**Mathematical Colloquium**

Mathematical Colloquium, which is held regularly on Thursdays at 2 p.m., is organised by the Department of Mathematics, University of Osijek, in co-operation with the Osijek Mathematical Society. Mathematical Colloquium was initiated in fall 1993, as an activity of the scientific section of the Osijek division of the Croatian Mathematical Society and the Institute for Applied Mathematics in Osijek with the help of the Society Head Office in Zagreb and the Department of Mathematics, University of Zagreb.

Lectures delivered at the Mathematical Colloquium are primarily intended for professors and students of the J.J.Strossmayer University of Osijek, as well as for high-school teachers and people from other fields of activity. Lecturers of the scientific part of the Colloquium are scientists employed at Croatian universities, but very often these are foreign scientists as well. Their lectures usually give results of their own research, or overviews of recent trends in various fields of mathematics and its applications.

Lecturers of the educational part of the Colloquium are teachers from Croatian universities. In addition to presenting their own ideas and approaches to teaching mathematics, they also present some interesting topics referring to the history of mathematics or famous mathematicians.
